Today, The Platinum Mask channel would like to introduce Oak Cliff EZ for a conversation.
Hey! Please explain to the audience what you’re promoting.
I want to connect with people who may like my music anywhere they’re at. I have 2 albums and few singles out, so I would love for people to support me and give those a listen.
What was the biggest obstacle in your journey and how did you overcome it?
I’ve been my biggest obstacle, however, I’ve always believed that I can achieve anything as long as I don’t hold myself back by thinking negative thoughts. Learning to overcome my own fear and doubt is a challenging process, but I know that changing the way I think is changing my life for the better. As far as what’s been helpful in changing my thinking, I would say meditation, consuming encouraging and inspirational content (books, podcasts, etc.), and taking action despite any doubts I may have.
Is there anything you wished you would have known earlier in your journey?
The importance of self-talk and meditation. How positive or negative you are when thinking about challenges in your life affects your ability to take the necessary steps to succeed. Oftentimes, you have to be your own best friend, cheerleader, hype man, etc. in order to be in the right frame of mind to take advantage of all the opportunities in front of you. As for meditation, it’s great for clearing your mind and gaining more control over your thoughts.
What separates you from similar organizations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area?
I specialize in making music that can be appreciated on multiple levels. For instance, I might make a song that can be appreciated by people who want to turn up because it’s catchy but can also be appreciated by people who respect lyricism because of the bars. I’m also into nerd/fantasy culture (Anime, Marvel, DND, etc.), and a lot of my fans appreciate those bars and references. I’m most proud of the evolution of my work and the progress I’ve made in terms of putting more of my personality into my music.
Were there any major challenges due to the covid-19 pandemic?
Being cooped up for so long made it challenging for me to start going out and networking outside again, but I’m slowly readjusting.
Do you have a mentor and can you remember any key advice they gave you?
Naruto Uzumaki is my mentor. You may know him as the 7th Hokage or Lord 7th. One key piece of advice he gave me is as follows: “Hard work is worthless for those that don’t believe in themselves”.
Were your friends and family supportive of your mission?
My parents, my brother, and a few close family friends have always supported my mission. My brother is actually the person who introduced me to making music in the first place. I actually didn’t have any interest in making music until he gave me a push in that direction – so my fans have him to thank lol. As far as support from my other friends, it’s hit or miss – but that’s just life and I’m okay with that. I would say I definitely get a lot more support from strangers though.
