Finding Motivation in Crazy Times

What keeps you motivated and passionate when you see heavy alarms in the news?

My internal drive for success no matter the circumstances around me or my environment. my desire in being a support system for my loved ones around me. my ability to do something instead of wondering later “what if”.

We are a part of the new natural resource. Data. Think of it like Natural Gas. Or Water. Rockefeller and Carnegie are old guard. This Data movement is new petro. It will power industry into the cosmos. That is what keeps us motivated. We are mining the future with every rep.

My dedication and drive that if I do not quite I will not fail. That even on the hardest days I have to keep going. I can not see myself working for anyone else’s dream again. I have to keep focused and continue to find ways to be creative with challenges as they present themselves.

The beauty industry isn’t going anywhere . People like myself enjoy getting their hair done.

It can be challenging to stay motivated and passionate about real estate investing when there are negative news reports or other setbacks. However, it’s important to remember that real estate investing is a long-term game, and it’s natural for there to be ups and downs along the way. Here are a few strategies that may help real estate investors stay motivated and focused: Stay informed: Keep track of current events and market trends so that you can make informed decisions about your real estate investments. Set clear goals: Clearly defined goals can help you stay focused and motivated. Make a plan and set specific, achievable objectives for your investments. Surround yourself with a supportive network: Seek out like-minded individuals who can offer advice, encouragement, and resources to help you succeed. Stay positive and persistent: Real estate investing can be challenging at times, but it’s important to maintain a positive attitude and keep working towards your goals. Don’t give up, and remember that setbacks are a normal part of the process. By staying informed, setting clear goals, diversifying your portfolio, surrounding yourself with a supportive network, and remaining positive and persistent, you can stay motivated and passionate about real estate investing, even when there are challenges or setbacks.

So much happens in the world each day, but you can’t let it stop you. No matter what obstacles are thrown at me, I tell myself I must keep going and change the view on how natural hair is treated. I am passionate about helping people restore their hair from hair loss, so alarming news encourages me to keep going. I feel unstoppable and I know that no obstacle can tear me down. I actually work well under pressure. Also, my customers keep me going, they also motivate me to continue to make amazing naturally handmade products! You have to keep on keeping on!

It can be overwhelming to constantly hear negative news, and it’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed or even demotivated. Here are a few tips that might help you stay motivated and focused despite the challenging news. The most important thing is to distance yourself from the drama. You can stay informed by reading the news rather than listing to it, scan the articles, and only engage if there is a subject you feel is worth your attention. Don’t engage in any news until you have set your intentions for the day with positive thoughts and affirmations. Focus on what you can control: It can be easy to feel helpless when you’re bombarded with negative news but try to focus on the things that you can control. For example, if you’re concerned about the environment, you can reduce your carbon footprint by recycling and using public transportation. Take care of yourself: It’s essential to take care of your physical and mental health, especially during times of stress. Make sure to eat well, exercise, and get enough sleep. It can also be helpful to practice relaxation techniques like meditation, deep breathing, and manifesting. Find ways to make a positive impact: While it can be tough to see the good in the world, there are still many ways to make a positive impact. Consider volunteering your time or resources to a cause you care about, or finding ways to support your community. Seek support: It’s okay to reach out for support when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Talk to a trusted friend or family member, or consider seeking the help of a mental health professional. Be kind. I know this sounds simple, but by being kind to others, you lift yourself up too. This is a win-win and what we all need more of.

Before founding my Executive Coaching and Business Strategy practice, I had been an executive leader in Financial Services. Over twenty years in that industry, I learned that so much of our economy is a matter of belief that becomes action – meaning fears of a downturn/recession/slowdown are invariably primarily a self-fulfilling prophecy. Some incredible entrepreneurs have founded unique businesses that bring insight, innovation, and excitement to some of the most ubiquitous products/services. And I know that they need clarity, simplicity, and direction to sustain their business during any business cycle. Durability is the inevitable result of small, consistent, deliberate actions done with discipline and purpose.

There’s times when I try to avoid keeping up with the news to prevent being on stress overload from all the “bad” news. Sometimes the bad news can not only hurt sales, but can also impact your audience. While sometimes I can’t control the news and people’s reaction to the news, I know that I can control how I present my business and how I respond to such news. Dedicating time and energy to establishing and maintaining my business’s online reputation has been invaluable. What keeps me motivated and passionate is my “why”. I’m constantly reflecting on my purpose and it allows me to practice gratitude for all things. Being around passionate people. They are always contagious to me and they keep me going. I think what also motivates me the most is my customers. I specifically set aside time to read customer chats and reviews and it gives me a lot of value from the things that I can improve on for my businesses. That inspires me every day. Being able to also make changes and empower people also boosts my motivation. I’m a big believer in the power of one, that one person, one action, can have a ripple effect that can make a difference.

The nonprofit I founded has as its mission, positive social change. We find that when things are humming along nicely, especially among the privileged classes, there is little motivation to do the work needed to make our society more equitable. Not that we wish for bad news, of course, but it is especially in those difficult periods following another school shooting, a climate catastrophe, a bad political outcome, or another George Floyd, that people find their motivation. In those moments, not only are bystanders more motivated to get involved, they are more susceptible to a process of neural plasticity and paradigm shift that is necessary for social evolution. Our programs are geared to be a soft place to land for those responding to the scary and traumatic things we see in the news. We give them an opportunity to work through their emotions and feelings of helplessness by giving them an opportunity to get to work. This is how social change works. The ones needing to do the changing need to be awakened to this need. We work with the flow of energy around difficult news and support the process of individual and collective evolution in response. It’s very important to realize that evolution can be a painstakingly slow process. Biologically, of course, it happens over many generations. When considering the level of neurological change that needs to take place on an individual level to achieve some measure of collective change in our society, it’s safe to say that it could take several generations. So we work on realistic, incremental, and specific changes, realizing these changes are only small steps on a long journey. This, of course, can be difficult for those who are on the receiving end of inequitable societal norms.

The news can be genuinely overwhelming these days. It seems like the hits keep coming with climate change, racial tension, political unrest, war, suppression of people, destruction of landscapes, and on and on. The constant barrage of negative news is its own form of trauma and causes so much unrest and overwhelm. Even when my heart breaks daily, I keep motivated by believing that most people are compassionate and kind-hearted and want the best for life on this amazing earth. If my nature connection work can positively inspire even a tiny handful of people, then those people will go out to act and inspire a small handful of others and so on. We cannot know what the future holds, but if we don’t continually work to bring forth the vision we have in our hearts, there will be no chance it will ever come to be. So, we should do what we can, share our gifts, honor our passion, and offer the world opportunities of possibility to create a future that will be sustainable for all life on this earth. Believing this deeply is what keeps me motivated and keeps my passion flowing!

Social impact to our culture and community is the foundation of where our business was founded. We each started out as independent artists, respectively in our cities. Soul curated open mics and art shows all over NYC. Witty curated independent artists events and performance opportunities in New Orleans. From there, we then realized the need to have people of color event directors who can curate these same opportunities where it may be lacking. From there, Forever Soul Live was born. We believe in creating safe spaces in different places for businesses, people and energies to network, grow and prosper. From hosting art shows, teaching classes and travelling to connect with like minds, we believe there is so much still needing to be built within our communities and the world. We hope to be an impact and influence to the community to strive deeper than settling for what is norm to succeed.

2023 I’ll be heading into my 18th year of selling real estate full time. Sometimes it’s a struggle to find new motivation every year to stick with the grind and hustle of sales. Business planning for 2023 was a bit daunting with my team amidst doom and gloom headlines of the housing market. However, I have been doing this since 2005 and have seen several changes, markets, and cycles. The reality is you have to find a bigger why in what you do everyday and view it as an overarching career not just a great month, quarter, or year. My why has evolved and changed several times but it’s so important to nail down and know your why you get up and go to work everyday regardless of what’s happening in the news, economy, or attitudes around you.

One of our most challenging and alarming components of the news that we are faced with daily is the impact of climate change on our planet. Whether it’s through storms, global warming, high winds, or forest fires, all of these factors significantly affect our planet as well as our business. We remain in a state of surrender to climate change and use the opportunities of the clear nights we are given to inspire others to value the state of the planet as well. We remain closely connected to National Forest restoration efforts, our National Conservation systems, as well as several Colorado based environmental causes. We ensure all staff are certified in Leave no Trace trainings and are permitted via our National Forests to ensure our environmental impact is minimal. The motivation and passion to capture the stars is always there, unfortunately the forecasts keep us from operating as much as we would hope. In these times of inclement weather, we attempt to connect people to astrophotography through zoom processing session, and other online resources. We also focus on our creative art work in times where the weather doesn’t permit us to operate.

I position my business to withstand anything by having a positive mindset so I won’t fall victim to negativity. When we get doomsday alarms that the sky is falling, proper planning, keeping my eyes on the prize, and understanding my “why” helps me navigate decisions. I look at being in business as investing. When you’re making legacy plays and playing for the long term, not the short term, you must consistently remind yourself of the end game, and you always have to remember why you’re playing. When you invest money, you must know it’s a possibility that there will be times and years when the market has a downturn, and you might lose money. Throughout my investments, I have experienced up and downturns when making money. At the end of the day, I have made more money than I’ve lost. It’s the same thing in business; there are times when it’s great, the economy is excellent, and everybody’s spending money. Most of what we worry about never happens, and we spend 80% of our time worrying about something that happens less than 5%.

It can be very challenging to not be impacted by what is happening around the world. There is so much pain and so much turmoil that can be avoided in so many ways. However, as a lifestyle photographer, I feel motivated and inspired after each shoot that I have, because I am reminded of the good that truly is in the world. I meet wonderful people with beautiful stories, and no two shoots are ever the same. I work with life-changing non-profits, such as Kesem, and am inspired by the perseverance and strength of children facing horrible situations at home. I have learned that although the world can be a sad place at times, our day-to-day lives are filled with such joy and love, that by focusing on what is in our control and the beauty in our daily lives, we can truly change how we see the world.

Honestly, I don’t the watch news when it originally broadcasts. I usually learn about major news headlines from social media and updates within my inbox. I’m very protective of myself and peace of mind, so I don’t like to sit and hear the same negative or heavy story run every hour. I eliminate that by tailoring my news feed on social media and within my inbox to topics that are of interest to me and my business. What keeps me motivated and passionate in those times of heaviness from news headlines is my mission and vision for myself and my business. As a writer and consultant, I enjoy connecting, supporting, writing, educating, and encouraging while helping others tell their stories authentically and unapologetically. Despite what is happening in the world, I strive to maintain a life that is intentionally true to who I am and the individuals I choose to collaborate with.
