Hey! Please explain to the audience what you’re promoting.
My business, The Local Hedge Witch, is the home of my spiritual apothecary, tarot readings, and mental alchemy sessions.
What was the biggest obstacle in your journey and how did you overcome it?
Beyond pure impostor syndrome, my biggest obstacle has been an unpredictable market. Spiritualists always exist, but sometimes the general public is more or less into it. It can greatly influence how sales go for periods of time.
What separates you from similar businesses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area?
I actually sell my products to a few stores in the DFW area, so I’d like to think I have a lot in common with fellow metaphysical shops. However, the primary way I stand out is that I don’t offer any product that isn’t my own. Everything is 100% handcrafted by me.
Is there anything you wished you would have known earlier in your journey?
I wish someone would’ve told me to keep going when times get too easy. I have ADHD and I’ve unfortunately found that it’s pretty easy for me to slack off unintentionally when I’ve had a big sales boom. It’s a weird habit to get into and a tough one to break. When you have a huge sales day or however that looks for you, put in work that day. Keep the momentum going before you rest, even if just for 3 or 4 hours.

Were there any major challenges due to the covid-19 pandemic? How did you overcome them?
I opened my first shop in November 2020, so I missed the most painful wave of COVID-19 damage. BUT, as stereotypical as it is to say, supply chain issues were a bitch from time to time. Glass was borderline unavailable some weeks.
What was your upbringing like and did you discover your passion early on?
I’ve been a really spiritual person since I was tiny, even though I didn’t know that’s what was going on. I’ve always felt connected to the Earth, and for years I was terrified of being able to sense energies around me. In my mid-20s, I finally began to open myself up to what’s possible when you combine nature and spiritual energy. I discovered the beautiful alchemy that makes up our entire consciousness.
Were your friends and family supportive of your mission?
I think most of the people I knew thought it was a cool, “cute” thing to do—start an Etsy shop selling witchy things. However, as the shop has grown, my friends and family have all become my biggest supporters who back me and my work 100%. I’m very thankful.
