Today, The Platinum Mask channel would like to introduce Lauren Sterling for a conversation.

Hey! Please explain to the audience what you’re promoting.

I’m trying to get my name and business out there, so that I can gain more clientele. I love the creativity this path has brought me, and I can’t wait to serve the community, bringing a smile to their face as well.

What was the biggest obstacle in your journey and how did you overcome it?

Starting your own business from scratch is nowhere near a breeze. Some of the obstacles I’ve faced in my journey came from having to figure out the answers to things I simply had no idea how to do. This could range from task like making my own website, trying new flowers, building clientele, and creating my customers’ vision all while executing and delivering just what they want. I know that my business is just beginning to get off the ground, but I often have to remind myself to stay patient through this process. There have been times where I am extremely tired from my teaching career, but have orders I need to fulfill. There are also times where I am wishing I had a ton of orders to do, but may only have a couple, sometimes none. I think it’s always important for people who are just starting their business to remember to trust the process. Practice, practice, practice, and stay humble. With persistence and hard work, you can do anything!

What separates you from similar businesses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area?

I really try to create arrangements i’ve never seen before. I like to make my own creations, and go based off of an idea i’ve created in my head. If my customer has an idea in mind, I like to bounce ideas off of them and work really hard to execute the vision all while adding my own twist.

Is there anything you wished you would have known earlier in your journey?

Yes! I wish i would’ve known how much time and energy it takes to keep learning within your business. From promoting yourself, to educating yourself, all while maintaining your personal life. All of these things can really take a toll on you. I’ve realized it is so important to have a balance.

Do you have any favorite spots in the Dallas-Fort Worth area?

OMG yes! I love food, so trying new spots is something I love to do in my free time. If you love sushi like I do, you have to try Ashim’s Hibachi Grill! It’s in the middle of Sundance square in fort worth, and it’s such a vibe. I also love tacos, so velvet taco is definitely a go to. On a typical dream day, i’d probably spend time reading and listening to music at turtle creek park in Dallas, or a local park near me on the trinity trails, and then walking around downtown finding new places with friends.

Were there any major challenges due to the covid-19 pandemic? How did you overcome them?

Honestly, no. I started my business at the tail end of the pandemic and I have not had any negative connotations because of it.

What was your upbringing like and did you discover your passion early on?

I had such an amazing upbringing and am so blessed to have such an amazing family. I grew up in Dallas Texas and Columbus Ohio alongside my mom (Toni), dad (Michael), and brother (Michael Jr.). I got to watch my parents work really hard and eventually run their own business which inspired me to be a business owner like them. Seeing the lifestyle they provided my brother and I motivated me to be able to give my future children the same. I’ve always enjoyed flowers, but in 2021 I started really testing my creativity. Moving out on my own and going through my own troubles, all while fighting with anxiety lead me to the joy florals brought me.
