Today, The Platinum Mask channel would like to introduce Carolina Carrasquillo for a conversation.

Hey! Please explain to the audience what you’re promoting.

Myself as a designer and my small business, Eidle.

What was the biggest obstacle in your journey and how did you overcome it?

One of the biggest obstacles in my journey has been dealing with burnout. I think out of all the challenges that come with running a business, burnout can be so detrimental because it is the lowest point you hit before feeling like giving up. I have overcome my moments of feeling burnt out by learning to heal from it through rest and play, and learning to avoid it by knowing my own limits and dedicating time to things outside my business that make me happy.

Is there anything you wished you would have known earlier in your journey?

Yes, there are things I would have liked to know, and decisions I would not have made, mostly regarding technical business stuff. As a creative, I am an extremely dedicated artist, but the numbers and the selling part is always a challenge for me. A lot of it I’ve learned through experience, but it certainly would have helped me at the beginning of my journey to have the business knowledge I have now.

Do you have any favorite spots in the Dallas-Fort Worth area?

I love the DFW area because there truly is so much to explore here. I tend to hang out a lot at Free Play which is a barcade, they have several locations in the area. I love anywhere with exciting food and one of my favorite spots for that is The Meddlesome Moth in Dallas.

What was your upbringing like and did you discover your passion early on?

My mom and grandma were always very crafty and constantly worked on sewing projects when I was growing up. So I was introduced to sewing from a very young age. I used to have a little toy sewing machine that was actually functional and I would use that to make clothes for my dolls. Although I am not the best at drawing, I loved to draw clothes, also from a very young age. I still keep a binder with a lot my old “fashion illustrations” some of them go back to when I was about 6 or 7 years old.

Do you have a mentor and can you remember any key advice they have given you?

My best mentor was my grandma. She taught me everything. She taught me to create.

Were your friends and family supportive of your mission?

I have been lucky enough to have the support of my loved ones throughout my journey.
