Today’s highlight goes to Joi Bailey of Third Eye Gallery!

Hello Joi, have Dallas tattoo artists been adapting to this pandemic and could we be seeing any long-term effects to the industry as a whole?

We’ve been adapted by taking the necessary precautions needed to stop the spread. We wear masks and we’re careful.  I can’t see any long term affects. As long as we’re able to work and get the supplies we need, tattoo artist will stay above water through the pandemic.

How have you been staying productive and improving your business during the entire quarantine?

Having all of that extra free time during quarantine I got a lot of painting done. I did some portrait studies as well. I did a couple tattoos too.

With states like Virginia including tattoo studios in phase 1 of their reopening and New York adding tattoo studios to their phase 3 reopening stage, what do you think was an appropriate response for tattoo studios to continue operations?

Tattoo artist should be essential workers.

Do you see any long-term industry changes in a post-COVID Dallas?

I’m probably going to have to wear a mask at work forever. Everyone is going to step up their cleaning game, hopefully.

Do you see any changes to your main client base?

Not at all. I’ve been staying so busy. So many people want to get out of their house for a tattoo. I have some loyal clients too. It could be the end of the word and I’d still have a 12pm on a Tuesday.

Is there any advice you have for people thinking about getting into the tattoo industry?

Work hard and take care of your back.
