Today, The Platinum Mask channel would like to introduce Taylor McAllister for a conversation.
Hey! Please explain to the audience what you’re promoting.
I’m here to promote nutrition, confidence, a balanced lifestyle, beauty, and overall wellness.
What was the biggest obstacle in your journey and how did you overcome it?
Myself! I wanted so much more out of life but just “didn’t know how” and wasn’t willing to figure it out. Finally, I woke up and chose to not constantly give up on myself, lost 50 pounds, became the woman I always wanted to be, built a business, and opened the door to my modeling career because of it. All while having the lovely opportunity to inspire and influence others (especially women) to do the same through my community and social media platforms.
What separates you from similar businesses in the Dallas-Fort Worth area?
I’m honest, relatable, and transparent. I won’t BS you, give up on you, or tell you your dreams are too big. I was able to achieve EVERYTHING I thought I couldn’t and I want that for everyone else. I’m basically just your virtual hype BFF who can also coach you to be the very best you so you can live your life with full potential and happiness.
Is there anything you wished you would have known earlier in your journey?
Oh, so many things… and although I did struggle and spent so many years just wallowing in my excuses… I wouldn’t change anything because I wouldn’t be who I am or where I’m at today. I had to drown a little so I could learn to swim! Somewhere along the way something finally clicked for past Taylor and she wasn’t afraid to try anymore that’s one thing I would have encouraged myself to do earlier on: to keep trying and not be afraid of failure. Because there is no such thing. You can never fail; because if something ends up not working out, that means it wasn’t meant for you and you’ve discovered one less thing that isn’t on your path, and that just gets you THAT much closer to your dreams and goals.
Do you have any favorite spots in the Dallas-Fort Worth area?
Downtown Mckinney for sure. I love the homie vibes and all the little hidden gems. So much so that our house is there as well! Urban Core Lagree in Plano is my favorite pilates studio, SPCA is where I foster kittens (they’re always in need of help!) and I’m not much of a foodie so I can’t say I have a favorite restaurant, but I love to walk around in Bishop arts and the food is that area never disappoints either!
Were there any major challenges due to the covid-19 pandemic? How did you overcome them?
ABSOLUTELY! That was a pivotal time in my life. I feel like, for a lot of people, that was the time to either fall victim to all that was happening that was out of our control (tough love moment) and what not, or you could take the optimistic (which I like to say I am) approach and do something with all of this extra time to reflect, grow and change. Although it was a terrible time for many (I too was greatly affected by it negatively such as losing my job permanently), it was a blessing in my eyes for me to find myself again and truly have no excuses to start doing the things I’ve always wanted to do. Like read, workout, build my online business, etc.
What was your upbringing like and did you discover your passion early on?
I was blessed enough to grow up on the island of Maui. It felt like a time capsule where my brother and I were so connected to nature, our surroundings, and truly the important things in life. I believe it made us the humble, down-to-earth, and aware people that we are today. Which is pretty rare to find in this generation. My mom was always into health/fitness and seeing what she was able to do with it and help people (including herself and our family) I was always inspired by that and always love science and wanted to learn how to help people before problems raised instead of just masking with medication (which I was learning at university) and really trying to make a difference/imprint in this world to empower others instead of having them feel dependent.
Do you have a mentor and can you remember any key advice they have given you?
My parents. My mom gave me a lot of great advice over the years. Not only is she my best friend but my business partner as well. My dad and I always butt heads for the majority of my childhood but it wasn’t until I was in college that he really helped open my eyes to things. I remember him giving me this jewelry dish that had the quote on it “I choose to be happy”. And going through the biggest depression season of my life, I never really understood that until I realized that we have to choose happiness each day. And that comes from doing things that give us purpose in life.
Were your friends and family supportive of your mission?
I was very fortunate to have friends and family who have always supported me. And my circle is very small but I’m surrounded by wonderful like-minded people who share the same community and it’s because they also have had their own journey and put themselves first to achieve their dreams and develop their passions while also turning that into their careers!
