Motivation in 2023

What keeps you motivated and passionate when you see heavy alarms in the news?

Regardless of what goes on around you, you’re entitled to the work. The work of getting better day in and day out. That in and of itself is enough to get me out of bed and try to figure all this out. Nothing but death stops the show.

When you’re aligned with your destiny, everything will pan out for you. As a business owner one must create a safety net no matter what’s happening. The news is set to program fear. Yet people are still spending money daily on what the truly want.

What keeps me motivated, driven, and passionate when alarms are going of in the news or the community is that I have a deep understanding, that as long as I trust the process and put in the work, I can achieve anything. Over the last 10 years of being in business, the ups and downs of the outside world has done little to slow the growth of ZacFit. The services we offer can be so life-changing and beneficial to clients, that’s negative news can often drive people to lean deeper into health and fitness. Now more than ever people need a transformational experience in fitness and health. 🙂

I feel very passionately that the business I am building is my true purpose in life. The more I have educated myself on the inner workings of my body, the more motivated I have become to spread this knowledge to as many women as I can far and wide. When heavy alarms start to show up in the news I think it is important for me to return to my purpose and also use my energy wisely. Desperately expending my energy on every type of content possible is not wise or lucrative. Heading into 2023 I’m planning to be even more conscious of the ways I’m using the internet to connect with my audience and that means working smarter, not harder.

The state of the world is abysmal. I know that at the end of the day, I don’t have control over anything or anyone. 2020 humbled us all to that fact. However, I’m choosing to be more present in the moment and simply do the best I can, each step of the way. I would lose motivation AND my mind if I didn’t simply focus on my passions. There’s no other option, but to create.

Personally, there are always going to be heavy alarms in the news, but if you don’t focus your energy on all of the negative in the world, then it won’t impact your everyday life. Sure, some things going on in the world effect others in different ways, but in the industry that I’m in, we have to be flexible with the curve balls that are thrown at us. Most of the time I’m working with clients a year, or longer, before their actual event day and we do everything we can to ensure the best of the best for them on their wedding or event day. Their wedding day is the best and biggest day of their life, thus far, and we would never take that away from them so yo unlearn to be flexible with what’s happening around us in the world, whether it’s issues from Covid-19, floral shortages, staffing shortages, etc. You do what you do, to complete a project!

As a Spiritual Energy Healer/Conscious Parenting & Intuitive Pregnancy Coach my job is to stay grounded so that I can support my clients and audience in being grounded regardless of the news. I love my work! You know how parents can feel overwhelmed and frustrated by their independent, strong-willed kids? I give them tools to immediately reduce power-struggles, stress, and anxiety. I’ve been happily homeschooling my teenage daughter for the past 12 years and I’ve written 3 books to give kids and adults more peace, power and joy in their lives: “Intuitive Communication With Your Baby’s Soul”, “21 Lessons to Empower the New Age Kid”, and “Tips & Trips of Parenting a New Age Kid”. My books work together beautifully to gently bring parenting into the 21st Century to be more aligned with the wise old souls that are being born today. Additionally, I have a Conscious Parenting Show on News For the Soul Radio that airs the 2nd Friday of each month at 6pm EST. My husband and daughter usually join me to share stories and answer questions.

What keeps me motivated and passionate is the love I have for Music. Regardless of any situation and circumstance, I somehow manage to keep my drive through hard times. My family plays a role in it too as well. I have so many people depending on me when it comes to Music that I have no choice but to stay motivated. I can’t let myself and them down. It’s either go hard or go home.

When I take the time to watch the news because quite frankly, I do my best to not do so because it creates feelings of anxiety at some level. What keeps me motivated and in good positive spirits is that I know that we as Humans, are strong and collectively we have overcome many other tough times in our world, that as long as we practice discipline and stay informed the only thing, we can do is our best. The thing that I physically do, and I know is cliche, but I pray; I pray for the world, I pray for myself to trust enough in the fact that the Energy we call God, will make sure Good prevails.

What keeps me motivated is the goals, I set for myself and for my business. It’s easy to get sad and depressed when looking or reading the news, but for me I always remind myself on why I started my business and what my goals are in life and I’m able to push through and continue working towards my dreams.

Grace keeps me motivated and the “news” is mostly for entertainment. Holy Sprit will show me everything that I need to know 😉

The heavy alarms in the news is exactly why I started my book publishing business and keep it going. I create and publish children’s picture books that fill a gap in children’s literature, but also educate, inspire and normalize our Black children. Prior to, during and since 2020, there have been too many reports of our Black sons being murdered often by the people that are supposed to protect them. This occurs because Black boys are not seen as children or sons. We never know if our Black sons will make it home after a school day or work day, and that is daunting. So, I craft literature that places Black children, especially Black boys and sons, in every day situations. In this way, our Black sons will be viewed as relatable, consequently humanized and ultimately protected. Additionally, the school to prison pipeline that affects our community most continues to rise. To combat that, I create and publish children’s literature that educates children about different careers and professions, such as lawyer, engineer, teacher; and inspires them to aspire to be anything. The books feature a Black boy and family, and Black people in spaces that they have historically been absent or are still underrepresented, such as in the legal field. Career exploration books are important for sparking children’s interest in their future possibilities. Once their interests are piqued, then they will be more invested in school and tend to be more excited about school and therefore, do better in school and stay in school. For example, I knew from a young age that I wanted to become a lawyer. I did not know much about becoming a lawyer other than I needed to do well in grade school, attend college and then law school. So I did well in school because I was invested in my future of becoming a lawyer. I am hoping to do the same for our children.

After having been in business for almost 19 years and delicately navigating the meal kit industry we always see opportunity to pivot during economic downturns. It forces us to take a deeper look at what we provide, our customers needs and assess whether or not we are meeting their current needs. We opened in 2004 as a customer facing kitchen, where people came in, made family size dinners, wrapped them, then took them home. But during the Great Recession of 2007-2009 we discovered this wasn’t working for families anymore so we changed the way we “delivered” dinner to their families by making it for them and delivering it, creating the meal kit delivery industry. We would have never been forced to think outside of the box if it weren’t for the economy. Families are always looking for an easier way to solve the age old challenge of getting dinner on the table. Food is one of the largest monthly expenses for a family and as the media begins sound the alarms about the economy, naturally families adjust their buying habits. What keeps us passionate and motivated when we see heavy alarms in the news, is that we bring value to our customers in various ways and our core customer base has grown to rely on Dinner A’Fare to help with the challenge of getting a healthy and affordable dinner on the table every night. It’s scary for a small business owner to see the economy slowing, but it’s also an exciting challenge. It’s not always about making things less expensive. It’s also about giving families what they need and value at that time. In 2007, during the first months of the Great Recession, families flocked to Dinner A’Fare delivery because they wanted easier access to how they made dinner. Moms and Dads no longer had time to come in to our studio kitchens to make their meals. This left even less time and energy for feeding their families. After some feedback from loyal customers who stopped placing orders, we realized that we needed to pivot to a delivery model if we were going to survive the recession. We began making meal kits for our customers and delivered them to their door. Dinner A’Fare meal kits are extremely cost effective, time saving, and easy. Instead of going to the store and buying all the ingredients to make a dinner from scratch, ordering takeout, or fast food, a customer just purchases the “portion” or exact quantity they need that is already prepped out from Dinner A’Fare. In 2023 we are already seeing ways that buying habits have changed. Trends that Covid changed are permanent and further evolving. Our current motivation, born from customer requests, is making dinner even easier with the launch of our Slow Cooker Dinners and our Freezer to Oven Pan dinners. While we still feature our core meal kits, we are passionately working on two entirely new offerings for Dinner A’Fare families. Ultimately it’s the E-mails, calls and text messages about how our products make their life possible that keeps us going.
